A company offering multiple products should set prices in a way that maximizes total revenue. If one product has a high marginal revenue per unit sold and another has a lower one, the firm may increase promotion or reduce the price for the product with lower marginal revenue to balance demand and profitability.

Consumers distribute their income among different goods to maximize total satisfaction. They will keep buying more of a product as long as its marginal utility per rupee is higher than other products and stop when all goods provide equal marginal utility per rupee spent.
